What are rhinestones made of?
At Gempire we conveniently catagorise all our gems into two collections: Premium & Classic.
Premium Rhinestones are made of high quality Crystal Glass, these are machine cut and backed with a strong reflective plating to give them their signature deep sparkle.
Classic Rhinestones are made of resin, using molds. Most of our Classic Rhinestones are transparent or opaque and do not have a backing. Those with a backing are foiled with aluminium.
What sizes do rhinestones come in?
Our rhinestones can come in a variety of sizes, from 3mm micro rhinestones to larger stones that are several millimetres in diameter. Available sizes vary between products. All of our Rhinestones are available in SS16 & SS20

How are rhinestones applied?
Rhinestones can be applied to fabric or other surfaces using glue adhesive. It is important to choose a glue that is specifically formulated for the materials you are using. When applying rhinestones to fabric we recommend using E6000 Fabrifuse to ensure the best results.
Can rhinestones be washed?
Our rhinestones are safe to wash, but it's important to follow the care instructions for the specific material they are attached to, as well as any instructions for the type of adhesive used to attach them.
When washing our own costume projects, we hand wash in warm water with Nappy San. We then roll the costume in a towel to squeeze out excess moisture before hanging flat on an air drying rack indoors or in the shade.
What is the difference between Swarovski and Gempire Crystal rhinestones?
Swarovski Crystals are a type of high-quality crystal glass manufactured in Austria. Gempire Crystals are a type of high-quality crystal glass manufactured for us in China.
